The title of this short story is a folk tale in our Ghanaian community and later one of our late musicians sang to it within the song you will hear him sing the chorus “If you do good you do for yourself, you do bad you do for yourself” and the story. This is an inspiring folk story and song to keep us in being Light and become Light to spiritually evolve. From what I ones heard this was a true life story.

“If you do good you do for yourself, you do bad you do for yourself” share this

The story

There was a disabled blind man who sit and begged for food. Each time he was given food he will say to the person “if you do good you do for yourself”. He has been doing this for a very long time and people gave him food when he asked. There was this woman who didn’t like the disabled blind man and the good that was being offered. She planed evil against him.

One day the wicked woman bought the disabled blind man a loaf of bread and put poison inside the bread so when he eats he die. Fortunately, Yahuah being so good on that very day the blind man had already eaten and was full up but he still took the bread from the woman when she offered it to him, what blind man said to her this time surprisingly was not his usual saying but rather “if you do bad you do for yourself”.

The blind man was walking around the neighbourhood that very same day and he heard a male child crying he stopped and asked the child why he was crying and he said “I’m hungry”. This child was the wicked woman’s child but the blind man didn’t know this. The blind man felt compassionate towards the child so he gave the bread to the child and said a woman just gave this loaf of bread to me you can have it. Before given him the bread he said “this good that I am doing I do it for myself”.

The child took the bread and thanked the blind man and then started to eat. By the time he reached home he had finished the whole loaf. He said “mum” when he saw his mother, he had wanted to say something to his mum but then started to complain about stomach pains. He fell to the floor he was nearly unconscious with complains of intense pain so his mum started shouting for help with cries. He asked him so many series of questions one being “have you taken anything from anyone to eat” and the wicked woman’s son said “yes”.

She quickly asked “who was it?” his mum fearing who it may possibly be, his son told her what she didn’t want to hear “the blind man who begs for food gave me a loaf of bread, when he heard me crying, he said a woman gave it to him”. He continued to tell his story, people have started to gather around to help so they heard everything he said. The wicked woman remembered what the disabled blind man had told her when she gave him the poison bread “if you do bad you do for yourself”. She started to cry.

The end of the story is the wicked woman’s son died and he was her only child. She regretted ever since trying to do evil against an innocent disabled man who begged for food.

As a child I understood this story was not just a folk story but a true life story. The blind man also had talent, he sang beautiful songs so he was admired by many people.

Social status and classes we have created here on earth are all meant for a purpose. When we fall into any of these social class know that there is a reason why we choose to be within. There is a reason why we need each other. share this

From this story the wicked woman with the dark qualities of hatred, jealousy and uncompassionate prior to losing his only son and child will learn a lot of Light qualities from her action. Love will be one of the Light lessons she will learn from her actions and the consequences that follows.
